I know I hear those words quite often during the summer and on weekends when school starts so we always have a few activities to do that are FREE things to do near me in Virginia Beach.

1. Grommet Park

Are you staying at the Virginia Beach oceanfront and with your kids and need to get the energy out?
Grommet park is RIGHT ON THE BEACH and located on 1st street.
Completely free and convenient and if you’re a surfer, this is a great place because the waves are the best here! This is also the location of ECSC!
Are the kids now hungry? Check out this place close by that is kid-friendly and tasty for the adults too!

2. Surf and Rescue Museum

3. Walk the Boardwalk
What better way to get the energy out than walking and enjoying the boardwalk! We always like to get the kids out on the weekends because and with the boardwalk being 15 mins from our home, why not?
On your walk, we have so many great shops, sweet treats, cafes and restaurants so you can truly make an entire day of just walking the boardwalk to get those steps in.
During the summer, you do have to pay for parking so make sure you bring coins or your credit card OR join us during the off season and get 2 hours free of parking!
4. Take a hike!
One of our favorite FREE things to do near me are the trails in Virginia Beach are. Most are completely free and easy to get to! The Please House Point trail have several locations that you are allowed to go fishing!

The kids LOVE doing this and they always get excited when they see the little animals and creatures out in the wild.

The Planetarium is one of those “off the beaten path” activity that kids will DEFINEITLY enjoy and its totally one of the free things to do near me in Virginia Beach! We took the kids for a Halloween special and it did not disappoint.
You do have to register before hand and the shows are only on Fridays. Throughout the year they do adjust the planetary show to fit what is going on in the galaxy.

Throughout the year there are paid experiences but on a standard usual day, its completely free!
This place will take you back in time and really understand what it was like to live back in the 1700’s. We recently to a Halloween special and were escorted through the property by candlelight!
Can you say WOW! I highly recommend this place for the entire family!

The thick lines make it easy to do a color block design with the beautiful stars being any color you want.
