Even though Virginia Beach is known for its beaches, surfing and relaxation, as the holiday season approaches, Virginia Beach transforms into a vibrant winter wonderland, offering festive Christmas activities for locals and visitors alike.

1. Virginia Beach Christmas lights on the Boardwalk
- On nightly showing through Dec. 31, 5:30-10 p.m., Virginia Beach Boardwalk.
- To prevent a long wait, buy tickets here.
- Vehicles enter at 2nd Street and exit at 33rd Street.
The Christmas lights at the Boardwalk in Virginia Beach, VA are a sight to behold.
As twilight sets in, the bustling boardwalk transforms into a magical wonderland, adorned with thousands of twinkling lights.
Every year something is added to the drive through that makes it so exciting. The kids always think about what will be added this year to the route!
The ocean air is filled with holiday spirit, as families and friends gather to marvel at the beautiful displays.
From towering lighted arches to surfing Santa, each corner offers a new and mesmerizing spectacle. Strolling along the boardwalk, you can’t help but feel a sense of joy and excitement as the vibrant colors illuminate the night sky.

2. Cavalier Resort Grand Illumination

If you’re a history buff like me, you are stepping back in time when you enter this building!
As dusk settles, the historic hotel comes alive with a breathtaking display of twinkling lights, illuminating every corner of the estate.
The beautiful tree in the courtyard stands tall and proud, adorned with thousands of shimmering ornaments that dance in harmony with the gentle winter breeze.
The pathways are lined with lights, guiding visitors through a picturesque landscape of illuminated gardens and sparkling outdoor areas.
As you stroll through the grounds, the scent of fresh pine fills the air, with the soft melody Christmas music playing in the background.

3. Holiday Lights Parade at the Oceanfront
- Saturday, December 7, 2024.
- Atlantic Avenue from 15th-25th Streets.

Experience a dazzling spectacle that lights up the night sky and fills the air with joy at the Holiday Lights Parade in Virginia Beach.
As the sun begins to set, I felt the excitement build along the streets as families and friends gather to witness this cool procession. The parade floats, adorned with thousands of shimmering lights, come to life as they go through the streets.
Each float tells a story, depicting scenes of winter wonderlands, familiar holiday characters such as the Grinch, high school bands, dancers and festive landscapes.
The vibrant colors twinkle and dance in perfect harmony, captivating the eyes of spectators. The sound of cheerful music fills the air, creating an atmosphere of merriment and celebration.
My kids faces light up with joy as they watch marching bands, vibrant performers, and even Santa Claus himself make their way down the illuminated path!
The Holiday Lights Parade in Virginia Beach is a collection of lights, sounds, and laughter, igniting the spirit of the season and leaving hearts aglow with one of this great Christmas events in Virginia Beach!
4. Snowglobe Spectacular at Town Center
- November 24th – December 30th
- Each weekend from 5pm – 8pm

The Snow Globe Spectacular at Town Center is another great Christmas events in Virginia Beach that mesmerizes visitors with its display of winter wonder.

So I know that the other events are listed in Virginia Beach, but Busch Gardens Chrismas Town is a must see if you’re in the area! It is approx. 45 mins away so try to make this a day trip!
This wonderful event offers a magical experience that will leave you filled with joy and wonder.
