Are you looking for the best pancakes near me in Virginia Beach to enjoy with the family? As a local and a lover of these carb coma inducing delights, I have been to my fair share of these places, and I’ve decided these are the best ones!
Are your kids like my kids and want pancakes everyday if they could? Since we have to get up pretty early to get ready for school and work, I rarely have time to make these delicious breakfast treats! So what is a mom to do?
Well when the weekend comes along, we like to try the local places and eat pancakes near me! Here you will find my honest opinion on how these tasted!

Oceanfront Dining Options
Pocahontas Pancake House
- 3420 Atlantic Avenue Virginia Beach, VA 23451
- (757) 428-6352
- Open everyday from 7AM – 1PM
Located one street over from the boardwalk, Pocahontas Pancake House is a unique but delicious breakfast and great pancakes near me destination! Open EVERYDAY and early, as soon as you walk in, you get the vibe that you are going to enjoy something unique and different.
The decor is just how you think it would be since its names Pocahontas Pancake House, but as soon as you sit down and greeted with the menu, everything just looks delicious and wonderful.
Since I came there for pancakes, that was exactly what I ordered.
The pictures do not do it justice! They were served very warm and fluffy with a slight crunch on the outside. The eggs were also cooked to perfection and the coffee was just right!
Great pancakes near me for gluten free options!
My favorite things about this place are the gluten free and kids menu. With my husband being gluten free, he was extremely happy with this!

Doc Taylors Restaurant
- 207 23rd Street Virginia Beach, VA 23451
- (757) 425-1960
- Year Round Thursday – Monday 7am to 2pm, Closed Tuesday & Wednesday
Now this place is a staple among locals in Virginia Beach. Also, one street over from the main boardwalk, Doc Taylor’s is an unassuming place, and you could possibly miss it if you weren’t looking closely.
Did you know that Doc Taylor’s used to be a motel? When you go inside the place, you’ll see the history of this old building!
What was something I really liked about this place for pancakes near me, is the breakfast drink menu! I really enjoy mimosas and I usually end up getting the standard OJ. You can’t go wrong with the original right?
The breakfast came out quick and hot and the pancakes were equally hot. These weren’t as fluffy as Pocahontas but still extremely tasty.
Another thing to consider is there isn’t a kid’s breakfast menu but there is one for lunch. I still found it easy to order off the menu for the kids though. Give this place a try while you’re in town!

- 757-428-4858
- Sunday-Thursday 7:00am -10:00pm Friday-Saturday 7:00am-12:00am
Now this place is what you would call a favorite locals spot! Big Sam’s is located a little off the beaten path but well worth the journey!
As soon as we parked, I knew we were into a gastronomic adventure of pancakes near me. The place was a little small, but we got a seat overlooking the water and it was the perfect day for it.
The coffee came out hot and delicious and the table had all the additions we needed to make the perfect cup. It didn’t take too long for the food to come out and when it did, wow the pancakes were humongous! I even had my son hold one up to show how big they are!
Great non-pancake food items too!
My husband ordered the shrimp and grits for breakfast, and it was A-MAZE-ing! Very filling and the shrimp were big and juicy!

Log Cabin Pancake House
- 1614 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
- (757) 428-6438
- Monday-Friday: 7-1, Saturday and Sunday: 7-3
Here is the Log Cabin Pancake House that’s very close to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk which makes it really convenient if you’re staying at one of the hotels on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. This is one of the few places that actually has a buffet for the heavy eaters in your family!
The decor is like a cozy cabin-like setting and very friendly staff so start your day at the beach!
Where the Locals go
Rooster’s Cafe and Grill
- 2113 Pleasure House Road, Virginia Beach, VA, United States
- (757) 963-9163
Now this place is off the beaten path but it’s worth the visit! About 18 mins away from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Rooster’s used to be in Norfolk Virginia but now calls their home base in Virginia Beach!
How lucky are we!
Specializing in pancakes, as you can see in the picture of my breakfast, the French toast is also extremely good. Crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. With the crispy bacon is to round out the sweetness of the syrup it was just heavenly!
If you are someone that likes to go where the locals go, this place is it!
