Are you looking for fun March events for the entire family now that winter’s icy grip is lessening? I know I am! My absolute favorite time of the year is the summer, but spring is a close second.
In this post, I’ll go over some fun things to do in Virginia Beach and beyond with the family!
Table of Contents of March Events
Even though when you hear the month of March events, you immediately think of St. Patrick’s Day, but this month also has the first day of spring too! Around Virginia Beach, the weather starts to get warmer and now we can keep the family out a little bit longer.
We are so lucky to have such a temperate weather here in Virginia Beach! Are you interested on what it’s like to live here full time? Check out this article to get all the details from a local’s perspective!

Now you can’t think of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront in the month of March without hearing about the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon! This is one of the most incredibly popular March events, and we have people all over the world come and race.
Leprechaun Dash
There is even a race for kids ages 6 months to 5 years old called the Leprechaun Dash. The name is just so cute!
The kids will run a total of 26.2 YARDS and will even get a metal and be greeted by adoring parents at the end. Please note that to keep the kids safe from tripping, strollers are not allowed. Click this link to get more information about this Marathon.
2. Norfolk St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This is another event that every year we try to attend because the kids just love seeing all the different floats, dancers and candy that the parade attendants give out. Located about 15 mins away from my house in Virginia Beach is a section of Norfolk Virginia called Ocean View. Very close to Norfolk Naval Station!
The parking can get kind of a nightmare and difficult to navigate so get there early and LEAVE early would be my suggestion.
After Parade Party
If you are someone that doesn’t have young kids and are ready to party, there is an after party from 12-4pm at the completion of the parade which is located at the Columbian Club of Ocean View.
Food and drinks are available and of course some very interesting dressed up people. One year (before kids) we went to the after party and WOW! That was people watching at its finest!
3. Spring Fling and Easter Egg Hunt at Hunt Club Farms
- March 30th and 31st, 2024
- 10am to 5pm
The Hunt Club Farm is another great annual March events for kids that’s located very close to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. This place is a nice little getaway from the hustle and bustle of city living where you can enjoy the beauty of the farm setting.
Easter Egg Hunt
Some activities for this special March events are Easter Egg Hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny, Hayrides, the Petting Farm and TreeWalk Adventure, Costumed Characters throughout the far, Live music with Music and Games for the kids, and vendors selling trinkets and homemade goods!

This is a weeklong celebration of the Japanese culture which includes cool demonstrations of martial arts and performances. On the homepage for this festival, there are listed events so you can plan to do your most favorite activity if you can!

5. Family-Friendly St. Patrick’s Day Event at Busch Gardens
- March 8th to 24th
- Click here to see the times of the park
This place is one of our favorites to take the kids to that is far away enough to feel like a “vacation” while having our sanity in check because we can head home after a fun day.
The park changes into a green extravaganza filled with leprechauns, Irish music, and plenty of ambiance. There is a great Irish dance performance too!
And the food? Think mouthwatering corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, and, of course, endless pints of Guinness and green beer if you prefer that.

Final Splash
With summer coming on the horizon, enjoying the month of March events with your family can be a great way to get into the beach mindset!
