Are you looking for a place where you can relax and have a great brew with your kids and family? Check out these great family friendly breweries where you can have your cake and eat it too!
Virginia Beach is known for its great beaches and fun activities, but we’re also a great place for family friendly breweries to visit for the beer loving parent in the family!
I know me personally; I do like have a great refreshing beer on the weekend and these family friendly breweries make it possible for the kids to have a good time too.
Table of Contents
Depending on who you talk to, some people believe that a brewery is not meant for having kids play but I deeply disagree. The time on when you take the kids and where is crucial for making everyone happy in this situation.
I would recommend going during the early afternoon (most parents like day drinking anyways right?!) and a place that has an outdoor area for the kids to scream and run around.
Enjoy this list of family friendly breweries and let me know if you have visited any of these places with the fam!
Family Friendly Breweries in Virginia Beach
1. New Realm Brewing Company
- 1209 Craft Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23454
First up on our list is New Realm Brewing Company located about 20 mins from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. This place is MASSIVE! But the beer is very tasty, and the outdoor space is very big!
During the summer we like to check out this space because there is always a great event during the day and very kid friendly. Are you interesting in more events around Virginia Beach? Check out this link.
Food is an option here to buy and there is indeed a kid’s menu. The food is delicious and the kids like the very kid friendly options which includes burgers and fries! Kids love that stuff!
2. Pleasure house Brewing Company
- 2032 Pleasure House Rd, Virginia Beach VA 23455
Pleasure House Brewing Company is a little more off the beaten path but it’s worth the drive away from the hustle and bustle of the oceanfront.
Located near Chick’s Beach, this place has grown from a small little brewery to a more full scale operation that has numerous choices of beer and a large back area for kids and adult to enjoy the outside.
The kids have plenty of space to run around so the parents can enjoy some peace for at least 5 mins 🙂
3. Back Bay’s Farmhouse Brewing Company
- 1805 Kempsville Rd, Virginia Beach, Va 23464
This one is located right down the street from my house and worth the extra drive to check this last out. Their flagship brewery Back Bay Brewing Company is located at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront that is open year round for locals and tourist alike!
This brewery specializes in using only high quality ingredients and a FANTASTIC outdoor space for everyone to enjoy, especially the kids!
There is also an urban farm located next to the production building called Kat’s Next Door Market that you can buy great produce and products straight from the source. How cool is that?! Plus the kids and see the entire process of doing urban gardening as well.
4. Aslin Beer Company
- 823 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Aslin Brewing Company is one of our newer breweries to come to Virginia Beach in the past 6 months but WOW! I was really impressed with the selection of beers, food and how kid friendly it was!
We had another family join us around 4 in the afternoon, and it was not too busy at all. We sat inside and had a few drinks to catch up and let the kids color or watch videos. The kids started to get restless so we ordered some food and headed outside!
The outside sitting area is on the small side, but it still had enough space and room for the parents to sit and relax while the kids ran around crazy! There were other kids there too, so the noise of happiness and screaming were not out of the ordinary.
We ended up staying for about 4 hours, but it seemed to go quick. The ambiance, beer, the food and kids LOVED it here. My friend also agreed that she had a great time too! Highly recommend this place 🙂
5. Smartmouth Brewing Pilot House
- 313 32nd Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
What is nice about the Virginia Beach Oceanfront is the variety of different breweries that are so close together, you could do your own brewery tour. The Smartmouth Brewing Pilot House is the second location for the Smartmouth brewing brand and offers sensational beers and wine for the non-beer drinkers.
I remember going to the original location in Norfolk in 2012 and I was ecstatic to visit the second location so close to the beach.
There isn’t much of a green space for kids to run around but there is lots of room and games for the kids to play at the table inside. Are you looking for coloring pages to print for the kids while you’re enjoying your cold brew? Check out this article for FREE coloring pages:
If you have younger kids, this place may be slightly more challenging to have them run around, but for the older kids, this would do just fine!
